When it comes to losing weight, it’s not only important to become more active and engage in more exercise, but it’s equally important to modify your diet accordingly.
One important thing to remember when changing your diet and eating habits is not to cut down on your calorie intake too drastically as this can do more harm than good and ultimately stall your weight loss effort.
Instead, what you should begin focusing on, is looking at the types of foods you eat and see if you can replace some of the more “bad” ones with some more “good” ones. I’m going to now tell you about 2 super-foods that if eaten regularly (several times a week) can help you to shed a few more pounds.
Fat Burning Food #1 – Protein
Although it’s not exactly a food, protein-rich foods are great because they don’t effect your blood sugar levels the same way that sugar and carbohydrates do. Sugars stimulate the release of a hormone called insulin which is responsible for storing excess carbs in the body as fat.
The second wonderful property of protein is that it takes much longer to digest than most other types of foods. This means you will feel satisfied for much longer as carb-type foods digest very quickly causing your blood sugar levels to drop soon after requiring you to eat again.
Some of the best protein-rich foods include: Lean cuts of meat, turkey, chicken, fish, eggs, beans and nuts. Try eating more of these types of foods throughout the week while at the same time reducing the amount of carbs that you eat and you should find that you can go a lot longer between meals and when you do eat, you won’t have a super-large appetite that will cause you to overeat.
Fat Burning Food #2 Low-Fat Dairy
There have been several studies and numerous research done on the effect that low fat dairy products such as no or low fat yogurt and milk have on weight loss. One study found that women who at these types of foods several times a day, lost more weight than women who didn’t eat very much dairy at all.
In a similar study, it was found that people who ate roughly 2 to 3 cups of fat free milk gained less weight over several years than those who were on a lower calcium type diet.
This would seem to suggest that the nutrients contained within diary products are useful for health and have a role when it comes to maintaining or losing weight. Dairy products are renowned for their ability to help strengthen your teeth and bones, but not many people know about their fat burning potential.
If no-fat dairy product aren’t your cup of tea, try starting off to lowered-fat products and slowly cut back from there. Eventually you will begin to enjoy the taste and your body will thank you too as it won’t have as much extra fat to deal with.
